An amendment to the Number in the National Identity Card from 2016

Action has already been taken to amend the identity card number with effect from year 2016. The English letter appearing at the end of the identity card number will be removed and the number is amended to appear in 12 digits.Read More >>

A technological card to establish the identity of Sri Lankan citizens

The Department for Registration of Persons working in new directions through several changes along with the technological development is going to introduce a new identity card with highly secured characteristics, called Interim National Identity Card of ICAO standards in the near future to establish the identity of Sri Lankan citizens.
