The Central Provincial Office of the Department for Registration of Persons was opened on 22.04.2024, by Hon. Tiran Alles, Minister of Public Security.

This office carries out the basic activities in the process of preparing national identity cards related to all applications referred to the Divisional Secretariats of Nuwara Eliya, Kandy, and Matale districts under normal service, and inquiries concerning those applications and other service requirements related to the National Identity Card can also be done through this office.

Also, the Central Provincial Office manages all the duties of the Regional Offices of the Department for Registration of Persons established in all the Divisional Secretariats of the Central Province, including supervision, facilitation, and conducting mobile services.
