The Southern Provincial Office of the Department for Registration of Persons established on 06.09.2019, is the only provincial office that issues identity cards under one-day service apart from the Head Office in Battaramulla.

This office issues National Identity cards under normal service as well as under one day service for the convenience of the public. Applicants who wish to obtain National ID cards under one-day service can obtain the relevant service by coming to the Divisional Secretariat on the date scheduled. Tokens will be issued from 7.30 am to the applicants.
In addition to this, issuance of identity cards or number confirmation letters to school applicants of approximately 758 schools in 03 districts of the Southern Province, Galle, Matara and Hambantota, and inquiries on other services provided by the divisions in the Head office such as Legal Division, Information Confirmation Division, could be made from this office.
